The Bungalow
The bungalow residence is designed to accommodate the needs of an aging senior citizen couple, Ann and John. The couple is over 80 years old, and John is a wheelchair user. The couple wishes to live independently from their son at his property on the Southern Ontario farmland.
The bungalow consists of an open concept plan with a combined kitchen, dining, living space; a laundry room; a 3-piece washroom; a bedroom with two single beds; and a coat closet at the entry foyer. The living room has direct access to the garden.
As the couple did not want a flat roof, a combination of hip and gable roof is used in the residence design. This type of roof is especially convenient as the house is located in a farmland property. Since this type of roof is a popular choice in farmlands, it helps the design merge with its surrounding context.
